China's July Power Battery Statistics Growth and Trends

TapTechNews August 9th news, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance just announced the latest July statistical data: The installed capacity of power batteries in our country is 41.6 GWh (gigawatt-hours), with a year-on-year increase of 29.0%; the cumulative installed capacity from January to July is 244.9 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 32.8%.

In July this year, the installed capacity of ternary batteries in our country is 11.4 GWh, accounting for 27.3% of the total installed capacity, with a month-on-month increase of 2.3% and a year-on-year increase of 7.5%; the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries is 30.1 GWh, accounting for 72.5% of the total installed capacity, with a month-on-month decrease of 4.8% and a year-on-year increase of 39.2%.

In July, a total of 39 power battery enterprises in the new energy vehicle market in our country achieved installed matching, an increase of 3 compared to the same period last year. The installed capacity of the top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery enterprises is 31.7 GWh, 35.0 GWh, and 39.7 GWh respectively, accounting for 76.3%, 84.2%, and 95.5% respectively.

In July, the production of pure electric passenger cars in our country with system energy density below 125 Wh/kg, 125 (inclusive) - 140 Wh/kg, 140 (inclusive) - 160 Wh/kg and 160 Wh/kg and above are 0.5 million units, 23.1 million units, 17.7 million units and 5.2 million units respectively, accounting for 1.1%, 47.9%, 36.7% and 10.8% respectively.

As shown in the figure below of TapTechNews, the top 15 domestic power battery enterprises in installed capacity in July 2024 are: CATL, BYD, CALB, Guoxuan High-Tech, EVE Energy, Sunwoda, SVOLT Energy, Prismatic Power, Ruisipu Lanzhou, LG New Energy, Extreme Power New Energy, Farasis Energy, Yaoning New Energy, Do-Fluoride New Materials, RongSheng Mengguli.

In the driven of the new energy vehicle market, the total production of power and other batteries in July in our country is 91.8 GWh, with a month-on-month increase of 8.6% and a year-on-year increase of 33.1%. From January to July, the cumulative production of power and other batteries in our country is 521.8 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 36.2%.

In July, the sales volume of power and other batteries in our country is 86.3 GWh, with a year-on-year increase of 49.9%, among which the sales volume of power batteries is 62.2 GWh, with a year-on-year increase of 19.0% and accounting for 72.1% of the total sales volume; the sales volume of other batteries is 24.1 GWh, with a year-on-year increase of 351.9% and accounting for 27.9% of the total sales volume.

From January to July, the cumulative sales volume of power and other batteries in our country is 488.9 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 41.9%, among which the cumulative sales volume of power batteries is 380.3 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 25.3% and accounting for 77.8% of the cumulative sales volume; the cumulative sales volume of other batteries is 108.6 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 165.3% and accounting for 22.2% of the cumulative sales volume.

For exports, in July the total export of power and other batteries in our country is 15.6 GWh, with a year-on-year increase of 28.9%. The export proportions of power batteries and other batteries are 61.5% and 38.5% respectively. From January to July, the cumulative export of power and other batteries in our country reaches 89.2 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 28.9%.
