Study Young Americans show interest in Chinese electric cars

TapTechNews May 27th news, although American consumers can't buy Chinese brand electric cars at present, a new study shows that young Americans show strong interest in Chinese electric cars. The survey results of the research institute AutoPacific show that as high as 76% of Americans under 40 years old are willing to consider buying Chinese electric cars.

In general, among the 800 respondents aged 18-80 surveyed, 35% are interested in Chinese electric cars. This may be because the acceptance of Chinese brand electric cars among people over 60 years old is relatively low, and only 26% are willing to consider buying.

However, 16% of the respondents said that if Chinese electric cars were produced locally in the US, they would be more inclined to buy them because it would seem to them to support the US economy and local workers more.

Interestingly, this study also found that young people who are open to Chinese electric cars have almost the same level of concern about privacy as older respondents who are not interested in Chinese cars.

The research team of AutoPacific was surprised by the high awareness of Chinese car brands in the US, and they believe that this may benefit from the spread of social media. TapTechNews noted that in an independent study released by another consulting firm AlixPartners last month, among consumers in the US who plan to buy electric cars, 58% know about Chinese brands such as BYD, Leapmotor and NIO.
