It is expected to start production in the first quarter of 2025. After production, the output of the super-large electrochemical commercial energy storage system Megapack will reach 10,000 units, and the energy storage scale will be nearly 40 gigawatt-hours (1 gigawatt-hour = 1000 megawatt-hours).

It is known that the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory is located in the new area of Shanghai Lingang, covering an area of about 200,000 square meters. The factory is close to the Tesla Shanghai Super Factory. The Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory is the first energy storage super factory outside the US territory of Tesla, and it is also another large investment project in China after the Shanghai Super Factory in the ten years since Tesla entered China.

The Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory mainly produces the super-large commercial energy storage battery Megapack to supply the global market. TapTechNews noted that currently, Tesla's energy storage products include Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack, etc.
