Tesla's 4680 Battery 4 Dry Process Versions and Their Future Applications

TapTechNews October 4th news, the tech media TheInformation released a blog post yesterday (October 3rd), reporting that Tesla is designing and developing 4 versions of the 4680 battery using the dry process, and plans to launch it in 2026.

The dry process is a new lithium-ion battery manufacturing technology. Compared with the traditional wet process, it can produce electrodes with greater thickness, which helps to significantly improve the energy density of the battery.

It is said that the new battery codes are NC05, NC20, NC30 and NC50, and each battery has a different design purpose. TapTechNews attaches the relevant information as follows:

NC05 battery: It will be used in the upcoming Robotaxi model and will be used in SUVs, Cybertruck and another vehicle that has not been announced yet.

NC20 battery: With more energy, it is expected to be used in an SUV, Cybertruck and other future vehicles.

NC30 battery: Silicon-carbon anode will be introduced, which can accommodate more lithium and is expected to be used in Cybertruck and a future all-electric sedan.

NC50 battery: Also introduces silicon-carbon anode and focuses on Tesla performance sports cars such as Roadster.
