Renault Unveils Autonomous Driving Strategy with WeRide Partnership

According to the official WeRide account, Renault Group recently released its future autonomous driving strategy. WeRide will deeply participate in Renault's exploration and practice in the field of low-carbon public transportation.

According to the plan, the two parties will cooperate to launch an autonomous shuttle service between the game venue and the parking lot during the 2024 French Open (May 26 to June 9).

Renault's Chief Technology Officer Gilles Le Borgne expressed that they look forward to launching a series of autonomous low-emission micro-shuttles before 2030 to meet the growing demand for green public transportation in various regions of Europe.

Currently, WeRide has conducted autonomous driving research, testing, and operations in 30 cities in 7 countries worldwide, providing various services such as ride-hailing, on-demand bus service, city freight transportation, intelligent sanitation, and advanced intelligent driving solutions. They have obtained autonomous driving licenses in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore.

According to previous reports from TapTechNews, foreign media previously revealed that Renault has been in talks with multiple domestic companies (allegedly including NIO and Xiaomi) regarding smart electric vehicle technology, paving the way for potential technology cooperation. Renault CEO Luca de Meo stated in a letter to the EU in March that they oppose the EU's initiation of anti-subsidy investigations against Chinese electric vehicles, stating that completely shutting the door on China would be the worst response.
