First Domestic 5G Remote Partial Nephrectomy of Pig Kidneys with One Machine and Multiple Controls

TapTechNews on June 26th reported that TapTechNews learned from the official website of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University that the Department of Urology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University successfully completed the first domestic animal experiment of 5G remote partial nephrectomy of pig kidneys with one machine and multiple controls on June 23.

The operation was performed by Professor Chong Tie, the vice president of the hospital. He simultaneously controlled two robots in Xi'an and Harbin at the same time at the Experimental animal center of the Innovation Harbor of Xi'an Jiaotong University to conduct animal experiments and successfully completed the demonstration teaching of partial nephrectomy of pig kidneys.

This operation has realized one machine with multiple controls and 5G remote operation, which means that one console can control multiple surgical robots at the same time, improving the utilization efficiency of medical resources; through the coordinated operation of the doctor's console, a multi-point coordinated 5G remote surgery system has been built, breaking through the limitation of geographical location.

Professor Chong Tie introduced that compared with the traditional two-dimensional laparoscopy, robot-assisted laparoscopy technology has significant advantages: the 3D stereo imaging technology makes the surgical field clearer and more realistic, improving the accuracy and safety of the operation; the operating angle of the robot arm can reach 720 degrees, making the surgical operation more refined and flexible.
