Google Releases Pixel 9 Series Phones, Discontinues Older Flagship Models

TapTechNews August 14th news, Google officially released the Pixel 9 series of phones today, including four brand new models. After the product launch, the first-generation PixelFold, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7Pro older flagship phones have been officially discontinued.

Google today launched the Pixel 9ProFold. Compared to the first-generation PixelFold, it is not just a regular upgrade. The new phone is larger in size, has a larger display and a better aspect ratio, upgraded to the new Tensor G4 chip, and even skipped a generation of SoC. In short, with the arrival of the Pixel 9ProFold, there are not many reasons to buy the PixelFold, and it is reasonable for the older model to be discontinued.

TapTechNews tested that the Google official website direct link of the first-generation PixelFold has been redirected to the Pixel 9ProFold.

As for Pixel 7 and 7Pro, these two models have been launched for two years and are also making way for the Pixel 9 series. Currently, the Pixel 7a and Pixel 8 series are still available for purchase.
