2025 Honda Civic Officially Released with New Hybrid System

Honda did not disclose the specific details of the hybrid system, only revealing that it is a hybrid system composed of two electric motors and a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, with a combined output power of 200 horsepower and 231 pound-feet of torque. It is worth noting that this power parameter even exceeds the new Civic Si model, which allows Honda to claim that it is the most powerful non-Type-R Civic ever.

At the same time, Honda said that the hybrid version will replace the current 1.5-liter turbocharged model, not only with strong performance but also with more excellent fuel economy. It is expected that the combined fuel consumption will be close to 50 miles per gallon (about 5.65 liters per 100 kilometers). In contrast, the fuel efficiency of the current Civic's most fuel-efficient model is only 36 miles per gallon. In addition, the hybrid version will also provide a four-level kinetic energy recovery system and suspension tuning optimized for the hybrid system to improve the driving quality and reduce noise. Honda said that the hybrid version has the best NVH performance in the entire Civic series.

TapTechNews noticed that the front lower bumper of the new Civic has replaced the previous large vent with a narrow vertical vent, and the grille has also slightly increased. The hybrid version has the body-color headlight trim and a lip spoiler, and all models have taillights with a darker smoked color. The new car also offers several new exterior colors, including Starlight Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, Blue Lagoon Pearl, and Dune Pearl.

In the interior, the hybrid version adopts a gray tone, and the top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid is equipped with leather seats, a 12-speaker audio system, and a larger 9-inch infotainment screen. It is worth noting that the Sport Touring Hybrid will also carry the Google Automotive system for the first time.

The 2025 Honda Civic will be launched first in the sedan version in June, and the hybrid model provides both sedan and hatchback models. Non-hybrid models will continue to offer LX and Sport, the two entry-level configurations, equipped with a 2.0-liter engine. The specific price of the new car will be announced later this year.
