At present, the number of automakers that have joined the NIO battery swapping alliance has reached 8. In addition to NIO, the other 7 are FAW Group, GAC Group, Changan Automobile, Geely Holding, Chery Automobile, Jianghuai Automobile Group, and Lotus.

It is learned that the automakers joining the battery swapping alliance will jointly promote the establishment of a unified battery standard system, cooperate in the research and development of battery swapping passenger cars and compatible battery swapping service stations that adapt to the battery swapping systems of both parties, promote the listing of battery swapping models equipped with the unified standardized battery packs jointly determined by both parties, and the station-end solution that can provide battery swapping services for both models can be implemented. At the same time, it will also promote the interconnection between the battery swapping operation networks and operators, promote the establishment of a unified battery swapping operation management system, build a larger-scale, standardized and unified energy infrastructure network to achieve scale advantages, and establish a whole life cycle management system of power batteries, and establish an efficient battery asset management platform and battery asset operation mechanism.

As of May 17th, NIO has built and put into operation a total of 2416 battery swapping stations; according to the plan, 1000 more will be added this year.

TapTechNews noticed that He Xiaopeng, the chairman of XPeng Motors, publicly stated recently that once the number of NIO's battery swapping stations exceeds 5000, XPeng will seriously consider the possibility of joining the battery swapping industry.
