TapTechNews quoted media reports that after installing the KB5040442 update for Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012R2, and Windows 11 systems, the Remote Desktop Gateway Service frequently crashes.

A German netizen, Roland, reported that after installing the June optional update / July cumulative update, when Windows 11 connects to the Windows Server 2016 system, it often encounters the Remote Desktop Gateway Service and the following error pops up:

The user xxx on the client computer yyy has not connected to the following network resource: zzz because the remote computer does not support secure device redirection. Please try to select other network resources or reduce the security of the RDGateway by modifying RDCAP to allow the client to connect to resources that do not perform device redirection.

Roland reported that by adjusting the Remote Desktop CAP (RD Connection Authorization Policy), it can resume working, but this way will reduce security.
