World Auto Sales and New Energy Vehicle Trends in 2024

The new energy vehicle share from January to June 2024 reached 16.8%, among which the proportion of pure electric vehicles reached 11%, while the plug-in hybrid accounted for 5.8% of the car ratio, and the hybrid accounted for 6.3%.

TapTechNews learned that the world's new energy passenger car sales in June 2024 were 1.48 million units, a year-on-year increase of 17% and a month-on-month increase of 12%. From January to June 2024, the world's new energy passenger cars reached 7.17 million units, with a year-on-year growth of 21%. This year, the sales of new energy passenger cars in Europe from January to June were 1.39 million units, with a growth rate of 2%; the sales of new energy passenger cars in North America were 810,000 units, with a growth rate of 10%.

In terms of China's new energy, it continued to maintain a 64.5% share from January to June 2024, among which the world share of China's new energy passenger cars from April to June reached 67%. Before this, the world share of China's new energy passenger cars in 2022 exceeded 63%; in 2023, China accounted for 63.4% of the world share.

In terms of pure electric, China reached a level of 59% in the world market from January to June 2024, and the performance was relatively stable compared to 61% in 2023. In terms of plug-in hybrid, China rose to a level of 69% in 2023 and reached 74% from January to June 2024, among which it reached 78% in the second quarter.
