BYD's Yangwang U8 Gets New OTA Update with Added Features and Optimizations
On June 18th, TapTechNews reported that BYD has now pushed the latest 1.5 version OTA update to owners of Yangwang U8. This update mainly adds 6 new functions such as valet parking and traffic light countdown, as well as 3 optimizations.
New Functions Added
The 'valet parking' function is fully pushed. Lock the car when getting off and park it, unlock and pick up things at any time, and parking is unrestricted.
Added the 'traffic light countdown' function in the custom version of Gaode Map on the in-car infotainment system.
Added the function of'mobile phone screen projection on the front passenger and rear entertainment screens'.
Added the convenient pickup'memory' function: when the user activates the convenient pickup function, a small window will pop up to display the 'pickup mode activation reminder', and just check to remember the content.
Added the exclusive dashboard background for the floating mode: when the floating mode is activated, the dashboard shows the exclusive background for the floating mode to improve the experience of using the function.
Added the refrigerator entrance in the bottom navigation bar: a refrigerator App entrance is added in the bottom navigation bar of the central control screen, which can quickly access the interface of refrigerator function settings.
Function Optimizations
Optimized the performance of steep slope descent and mountain climbing, and the off-road experience is better. Optimized the autopark experience: improved the accuracy of parking space recognition and added the full park-out function.

BYD's'million-level hard-core off-road' Yangwang U8 luxury version was launched in September 2023, with a price of 1.098 million yuan (about 160,000 US dollars). As TapTechNews knows, this car is equipped with a 12.8-inch OLED central control screen, a 23.6-inch instrument screen, a 23.6-inch front passenger multimedia screen, a 70-inch AR-HUD head-up display, a streaming media rearview mirror, and a 7-inch LCD screen on the rear central armrest. The luxury version also has 2 12.8-inch floating multimedia screens on the rear.
In terms of intelligent driving, Yangwang U8 is equipped with the God's Eye high-level intelligent driving assistance system, equipped with 3 lidar sensors, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 13 cameras, with a computing power of 508 TOPS.
In terms of power, Yangwang U8 is equipped with BYD's 'Yi Sifang' motor technology (which can realize independent control of four motors). The power system is a plug-in hybrid system, which is composed of a 2.0-liter engine and four driving motors. The battery pack is 49.05kW・h. The overall maximum power is 880kW, the maximum torque is 1280N・m, the 0-60mph acceleration in the luxury version is 3.6s, the CLTC pure electric range is 180 kilometers (about 110 miles), and the CLTC comprehensive range will reach 1000 kilometers (about 620 miles).
