United Airlines' Boeing 757 Had a Tire Detachment During Takeoff, Second Incident in Half a Year

TapTechNews July 9th news, United Airlines of the United States released a press release today, stating that early Monday morning local time in the US, when a nearly 30-year-old Boeing 757 airplane took off from Los Angeles International Airport, a tire came off.

This is the second takeoff tire detachment encountered by United Airlines in half a year. In March this year, a wheel of a Boeing 777 airplane of this airline fell off when taking off from San Francisco International Airport. In that incident, the huge wheel fell in the employee parking lot and crushed several cars.

United Airlines said in the latest statement that the wheel has been found and the investigation is underway.

TapTechNews quoted the United Airlines press release. At 7:15 am local time on July 8 (10:15 pm on July 8), United Airlines Flight 1001 took off from Los Angeles International Airport and flew to Denver, with a total of 174 passengers and 7 crew members on board.

The main landing gear tires of the 757 model are the same size as those of the Boeing 737 model, but the aircraft manufacturer has doubled the number of tires on each bogie, which means that there are a total of eight tires on the main landing gear of the 757 model.

One of the reasons why so many tires are needed is precisely to prevent tire burst or loss, which means that the airplane can continue to take off and land safely. In fact, one of the greatest dangers of losing a wheel during takeoff is that people and property on the ground may be hit by the fallen tire.
