Tesla Motors (Beijing) to Recall Thousands of EVs in the US

TapTechNews June 14th news, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products. Starting from July 1, 2024, it will recall 5,836 imported Model 3, Model S and Model X electric vehicles manufactured between January 12, 2019 and April 26, 2024.

For some vehicles within the recall range, due to manufacturing reasons, the driver seat occupancy function is abnormal. In the case of the vehicle starting and the driver not fastening the seat belt, the seat belt reminder device cannot issue a warning sound and visual warning, presenting a safety hazard.

Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will use the Over-The-Air (OTA) technology to upgrade the vehicles within the recall range to the 2024.20.3 or higher version of the software for free. Users can complete the software upgrade without having to go to the store. For vehicles where the recall cannot be implemented through the OTA technology, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will contact the relevant users through the Tesla service center to check the driver seat belt reminder function of the vehicles within the recall range and repair the faulty vehicles to eliminate potential safety hazards.
