ByteDance Denies Rumors of Cooperation with TSMC on AI Chips

TapTechNews September 18th, according to the report of the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, in response to today's media report that ByteDance plans to carry out cooperation with TSMC on AI chips, ByteDance responded and said that the report is not true.

ByteDance stated that the company does have some exploration in the chip field, but it is still in the early stage, mainly focusing on cost optimization for businesses such as recommendation and advertising, and all projects are fully in line with relevant trade control regulations.

In the first half of this year, there was a foreign media report that ByteDance cooperated with Broadcom to develop an AI processor to ensure a sufficient number of high-end chips. This AI processor has a 5-nanometer manufacturing process and will be manufactured by TSMC. Although the design work is progressing smoothly, the tape-out that marks the end of the design stage and the beginning of manufacturing has not yet started. According to TapTechNews' previous report, ByteDance subsequently denied the relevant rumors of cooperating with Broadcom to develop AI chips.
