Global Tablet Market Shipment Report in Q2 2024 Growth and Key Players

TapTechNews August 7th news, International Data Corporation (IDC) recently released the 'Global Quarterly Personal Computing Devices Tracking Report', and the preliminary data shows that the global tablet market shipment in the second quarter of 2024 was 34.4 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 22.1%.

The report stated that this growth benefited from the relatively low market shipment base in the same period last year and was driven by product updates from leading manufacturers, the arrival of the market replacement cycle, and inventory replenishment. Compared to the shipment of 32.5 million units in the second quarter of 2019, the global tablet market in the second quarter of 2024 is growing, which also benefits from Apple's product updates and the increasing popularity of detachable tablets from Samsung and Huawei.

1. Apple's shipment in this quarter was 12.3 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 18.2%. With the introduction of new products such as the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air and iPad Pro, Apple's tablet shipment finally returned to growth. The shipment of iPads increased in other regions except China, where it faces fierce competition from local manufacturers such as Huawei and Xiaomi.

2. Samsung ranked second with a shipment of 6.9 million units in this quarter, with a year-on-year increase of 18.6%. Despite no major product launches, Samsung still achieved growth in this quarter relying on commercial orders and the relatively low shipment base in the same period last year.

3. Lenovo's shipment in this quarter was 2.5 million units, ranking third in the market, with a year-on-year increase of 16.7%. Its detachable tablet had a much higher year-on-year growth rate (39.7%) in this quarter than the tablet (11.7%).

4. Huawei's shipment in this quarter was 2.3 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 40.3%. Its new tablet MatePad 11.5S performed excellently in the market this quarter, and the 618 online promotion season in the Chinese market further promoted the growth.

5. Xiaomi's shipment in this quarter was 2 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 94.7%. In addition to China and the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan), the company also achieved significant growth in the European market and had outstanding performances in many countries such as Russia, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
