BYD's Big Move in Indonesia Delivery of 1000 New Energy Vehicles and Future Plans

TapTechNews July 2nd news, on June 30th, BYD held a ceremony for the delivery of the first batch of 1000 new energy vehicles in Indonesia. Wang Chuanfu, the president of BYD, handed over the cars to the first batch of Indonesian owners.

In January this year, BYD launched three all-electric models in Indonesia - Dolphin, Seal, and ATTO3 (Yuan PLUS). The Minister of Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, also announced at the press conference that BYD will invest 1.3 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 9.476 billion yuan) to build an automobile factory in Indonesia, with an expected production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.

Eagle Zhao, the president of BYD Indonesia, once said that the company is on schedule to start building these facilities later this year and will establish up to 50 sales outlets nationwide in (Indonesia) by the end of 2024.

In April this year, BYD Automobile Indonesia announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with PTSuryabuatSwadaya, the developer of the Subang Smartpolitan industrial zone. BYD has taken the Subang Smartpolitan industrial park as the site of the electric vehicle factory, covering an area of more than 108 hectares, and it is expected to be put into operation in January 2026.
