This feature first appeared in the iOS17.4 and tvOS17.4 betas earlier this year, but after the official release, Apple removed the feature.

When others get the user's permission, whether they subscribe to AppleMusic service or not, through SharePlay, they can control the playback of AppleMusic on HomePod or Apple TV, and the user himself can decide whether to approve or reject each request.

TapTechNews reported last June that Apple had already launched a similar function for CarPlay last year, and passengers in the car could control the music playback through SharePlay with permission.

HomePod

When playing a song in the AppleMusic App on the iPhone, tapping the SharePlay icon at the bottom of the screen pops up a QR code, and others can scan the QR code with the camera of their iPhone or Android smartphone to request access to music playback control.

AppleTV

After the tvOS18 update, the music application on the AppleTV can also display a QR code on the TV, and guests can scan the QR code to request access to music control.

Expanding this function to AppleTV and HomePod is very useful for family gatherings and allows everyone to be a DJ.
