TapTechNews August 25th news, on August 23rd, Cui Dongshu, the secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, released the domestic auto import sales in July and the first seven months of 2024.

Data shows that in July, China's auto imports were 70,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 6% and a month-on-month increase of 15%; from January to July this year, the cumulative sales of auto imports were 400,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 2%, continuing negative growth for 3 consecutive years.

In terms of regions, in July this year, the top three countries in terms of imports were Germany, Japan, and the United States, with import sales of 22,600 units, 17,800 units, and 12,000 units respectively. Among them, Germany increased by 15% year-on-year, Japan decreased by 7% year-on-year, and the United States increased by 15% year-on-year.

From January to July this year, the top three countries in terms of imports were also Germany, Japan, and the United States, and the cumulative import sales in the first seven months were 109,900 units, 117,600 units, and 68,700 units respectively. Among them, Japan increased by 26% year-on-year, Germany decreased by 19% year-on-year, and the United States increased by 3% year-on-year.

Cui Dongshu said that currently, imported cars are mainly supported by the demand for luxury cars, and the proportion of the main imported luxury cars in imported cars has increased significantly. The imported retail of Lexus has skyrocketed by 18%, with good performance. The performance of BMW, Audi, and Land Rover is generally strong, while the recent performance of Porsche is relatively weak.
