In response to this news, the relevant person in charge of WeChat Pay said that WeChatPayMY is an e-wallet service provided for local users in Malaysia. Due to the adjustment of the local business strategy in Malaysia, the business stopped the registration of new users from August 1st, 2024, and users with balances can withdraw funds through the existing services.

WeChat Pay stated that users can still withdraw cash from the e-wallet before December 31st, 2024, but users can still choose a special withdrawal arrangement after January 1st, 2025.

In addition, the existing messaging service and other functions on the platform (such as WeChat Pay) are not affected. WeChat Pay will continue to provide convenient payment for Malaysians when traveling in China and provide service support for the entry payment of Chinese tourists in Malaysia.
