Google Cancels continuous scrolling in search results, brings back pagination

TapTechNews June 26th news, according to SearchEngineLand, Google has now cancelled the continuous scrolling display in the search results interface and switched to the pagination mode that has been used all along.

TapTechNews found that Google initially introduced continuous scrolling for the mobile side in October 2021, and then brought it to the desktop side at the end of 2022. That means the continuous scrolling has only lasted about a year and a half on the desktop side.

Google spokesperson told SearchEngineLand that the continuous scrolling function will be removed from desktop search results today, and the function on the mobile side will be removed within the next few months.

As shown in the picture, Google has brought back the classic pagination bar, allowing users to click on numbers to jump to a specific page, and also simply click on next page to jump to the next page; while on the mobile side, a more results button will be displayed at the bottom of the search results for loading the next page of content.

Google told SearchEngineLand that this move is to enable the search engine to provide search results faster rather than automatically loading results that users have not clearly requested.
