The Significance of New Industry Standards for Fresh Product Express Packaging in the US

TapTechNews August 2nd news, according to the official disclosure of the State Post Bureau, the State Post Bureau held a director's office meeting today and reviewed and basically passed the industry standard draft for reporting of Basic Requirements for Express Packaging of Fresh Products.

The meeting pointed out that in recent years, with the development of the economy and society and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the demand for fresh express delivery from the field to the table has grown rapidly. Formulating the industry standard of Basic Requirements for Express Packaging of Fresh Products and scientifically and standardized packaging is of great significance for reducing problems such as spoilage, decay, and damage of fresh products during delivery, further ensuring the quality of express delivery services, improving the user experience, and promoting the high-quality development of fresh product delivery business.

TapTechNews noted that the first mandatory national standard for express packaging, Limits of Heavy Metals and Specific Substances in Express Packaging, was implemented on June 1st this year. It clearly prohibits the use of toxic and harmful express packaging and sets the safety bottom line and red line requirements for express packaging.

The Limits of Heavy Metals and Specific Substances in Express Packaging standard puts forward the overall limit requirements and individual limit requirements of heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium for paper, plastic, textile fiber and composite material express packaging products respectively; and stipulates the limit requirements of specific substances such as solvent residues, bisphenol A, and phthalates.
