Zoom has currently launched a similar function, while the Microsoft Teams application currently only supports the meeting host to switch different breakout rooms, and participants are not supported for the time being.

After the Teams application is updated, it will show all the available breakout rooms to the participants, allowing them to freely choose and switch meeting rooms in order to follow up and coordinate according to needs during intense meeting periods.

TapTechNews translated the content of the Microsoft roadmap entry as follows: After enabling this setting in the breakout rooms, participants can freely move from one room to another, thereby simplifying the coordination work of the meeting organizer and participants in the breakout rooms.

According to Microsoft's description, this function seems to be launched on all platforms globally starting in August 2024, including Mac and Windows desktops as well as iOS and Android phones.
