PlayStation 5 Users Found Background Images Replaced with Promotional Info

TapTechNews on October 1st, some PlayStation 5 users found that the background images of the games were replaced with promotional information and news posts. These images included expired discount promotions and ads for new games.

TapTechNews noticed that users said on forums and social media that normally when highlighting a game on the PS5, a specific game art image would appear, but now this image has disappeared and instead, the image that was supposed to be displayed as a news post in a separate area of the PS5 UI.

Daniel Hiatt, the product lead for PlayStation Game Center and Activity Recommendations, wrote in a now-deleted post that this issue is a (new) bug of an existing function.

Fortunately, this error has been fixed for now.
