Apple's Beddit Acquisition and Phased-Out Update

TapTechNews October 1st, a blog post by tech media MacRumors yesterday (September 30th) reported that after Apple acquired the Beddit sleep monitoring accessory in 2017, The matching App suitable for Beddit 3.0/3.5 has been removed from the App Store last week.

Apple acquired Beddit in 2017 and has since gradually reduced the hardware and software functions and support of this accessory;

In 2018, Apple removed the cloud synchronization function from the original Beddit application;

In 2019, an updated version of the accessory with fewer functions was released;

In 2022, the sale of this accessory was completely stopped.

Beddit is a sensor strip that features thin and flexible and can be placed on the mattress for sleep tracking. The possible purpose of Apple's acquisition of Beddit may be to develop and enhance sleep tracking on the Apple Watch, which has been launched with the watchOS 7 update in 2020.
