OpenAI's CEO Altman Becomes a Prominent Silicon Valley Investor

TapTechNews June 3rd news, according to the report of The Wall Street Journal today, OpenAI CEO Altman has now joined the ranks of the most prolific individual investors in Silicon Valley. Currently, Altman and his venture fund have invested in more than 400 companies, and the value of the shares held as of the beginning of this year is at least 2.8 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 20.328 billion Chinese yuan).

Altman does not hold the shares of OpenAI valued at 86 billion US dollars, and his annual salary is about 65,000 US dollars (currently about 472,000 Chinese yuan). It is known that the companies he invests in include the payment company Stripe, the short-term rental platform Airbnb, "American Tieba" Reddit, Musk's brain-computer interface company Neuralink, and so on. The report also said that Altman used the debt limit of JPMorgan Chase Bank, which allows him to invest hundreds of millions of US dollars in private start-up companies.

These start-up companies that Altman invests in usually have business dealings with OpenAI. For example, previously OpenAI announced a cooperative relationship with Reddit, causing Reddit's stock price to soar by 10% once, and the shares of Reddit held by Altman himself also increased by 69 million US dollars (currently about 501 million Chinese yuan).

In May this year, Altman also announced to join the "Giving Pledge" initiative, promising to donate most of his wealth to charity in the future.
