Apple May Charge for Some AI Functions in Future, But Not Now

TapTechNews August 11th news, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed in the latest newsletter that although Apple plans to follow the form of the iCloud+ subscription service and turn some of the AppleIntelligence artificial intelligence functions into a paid service of up to $20 (TapTechNews note: currently about 143 yuan) per month, but we will not see the company carry out relevant operations at least within 3 years.

Apple May Charge for Some AI Functions in Future, But Not Now_0

Gurman mentioned on July 1 this year that although the AppleIntelligence function will be free at the beginning, Apple's long-term plan is to launch a subscription service similar to AppleIntelligence+ to provide users with additional functions, and a monthly fee is required to unlock. Apple plans to turn artificial intelligence functions into a source of service revenue to deal with the trend of slowing hardware upgrades and reduce reliance on hardware updates to promote the company's business development.

But Gurman said today that Apple will not immediately charge for the AppleIntelligence function, because the AI function currently provided by the company still has room for improvement, and currently Apple is catching up with the pioneers in the track. If the company charges for its AI functions, it will be a stupid move, Gurman believes that Apple needs at least 3 years to develop something worthy of charging.
