MediaTek Launches Pentonic 800 for 4K 165Hz VRR Screens

TapTechNews May 31 news, MediaTek today launched a high-end TV / monitor processor Pentonic 800 that supports 4K 165Hz VRR screens.

The Pentonic 800 processor is equipped with a 4-core Arm Cortex-A73 @ 1.8 GHz CPU and a Mali-G57 MC1 GPU, and supports 64-bit DDR4-3200 memory and eMMC 5.1 flash memory.

This processor supports hardware decoding of H.265/H.266, VP9, AV1 and AVS3 High Profile formats, and can provide HDMI 2.1a FRL 48 Gbps and DP 1.4a interfaces to the outside.

MediaTek stated that the AI processor carried by Pentonic 800 has a 50% increase in performance compared to the previous generation, and can reduce the memory bandwidth requirement by up to 60% at the same time, and supports rich AI functions, including:

AI-SR super-resolution image processing;

AI scene recognition image quality optimization;

AI object recognition;

Smart TV manufacturers can choose to match the Pentonic 800 SoC with MediaTek's Filogic Wi-Fi 6/6E/7E wireless chipset to meet the needs of high bandwidth and low latency for 4K wireless streaming media and cloud games.
