As a revolutionary human-computer interaction method, brain-computer interface technology bypasses the traditional peripheral nerves and muscles and directly builds a brand-new communication and control channel between the human brain and the outside world, providing the possibility for the treatment of brain diseases and the effective restoration of the motor function and communication ability lost due to diseases or trauma. In recent years, it has been widely used in the fields of medicine, rehabilitation, nursing, etc.

The brain-computer interface technology has also been included in the key research areas of the national 14th Five-Year Plan and the focused areas of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in the future, becoming a national-level major scientific research strategic task.

The academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the director of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases of Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Professor Wang Yizheng, serves as the chief scientist of the center, and ten experts including the academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Pu Muming, Liu Ming, and Zhao Jizong, form the Scientific and Technical Expert Steering Committee.
