Volkswagen ID.2 GTI Mule Car Test Photos Leaked, Expected to Be Released in 2026

The positioning of the Volkswagen ID.2 is a small hatchback, and the ID.2 GTI will become its high-performance version and is expected to be released in 2026.

Volkswagen is testing the Volkswagen ID.2 GTI mule car on the Nürburgring track. The main purpose of the ID.2 GTI in the photos is to test and verify the chassis in the early stage of development, and its appearance is just a shell of the Volkswagen ID.3, so it is not very referential.

Judging from the photos, the main differences are that the body and rear suspension of this mule car are significantly shorter. In addition, the design of the alloy wheel is exactly the same as that of the CUPRA Raval that debuted last summer, but with the typical copper highlights of the Spanish brand, and there is also a brake disc on the rear axle.

In terms of the core power, the ID.2 GTI will adopt pure electric drive. For reference, the Volkswagen ID.2 is built based on the Volkswagen MEB Entry front-wheel drive platform. The maximum power of the ordinary version's motor is 226 horsepower, and the cruising range under the WLTP working condition is 450 kilometers. The ID.2 GTI is a high-performance version, and the power parameters should be further improved.
