Nissan Adjusts Electrification Plan in North America

TapTechNews May 25th news, due to the reduced demand for electric vehicles in the North American market, Nissan has re-evaluated its electrification plan and focused on hybrids and fuel vehicles. Nissan stated that the company has suspended the development plans of two pure electric sedans and expanded its electric vehicle product line in the US to five models.

Nissan had announced in 2022 that it would invest 500 million US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 3.625 billion RMB) to develop two electric sedans and planned to start assembling in the Canton, Mississippi factory in 2025.

A Nissan spokesperson said, 'We are adjusting the time planning for the launch of these five new models to ensure that the vehicles are推向 the market at the right time.'

It is introduced that the company will also launch a new pure electric crossover SUV model for the US market. Although Nissan's electric sedans are still in the production plan, the company expects the launch speed of its SUV to be faster than that of the sedan.
