China-Laos Railway's International Passenger Train Update

According to the official news of the Kunming Railway, since the international passenger train of the China-Laos Railway started operating on April 13, 2023, as of July 5 this year, it has been operating for 1000 trips and has cumulatively sent more than 960,000 passengers, including 222,000 cross-border passengers.

Passengers from Laos, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries account for 40% of the total number of inbound and outbound passengers on the international passenger train of the China-Laos Railway, mainly for sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, and employment and business.

The railway departments of the two countries have continuously optimized the train operation plan. By adjusting the train schedule, optimizing the inspection and customs clearance process, shortening the travel time and improving the transportation efficiency. The number of cross-border seats has increased from 300 to 350, and the number of stops along the whole journey has increased from 8 stations to 10 stations. The1000 trips of the trainhave a 100% on-time departure rate.

For the service, special windows for international passengers to purchase tickets have been set up at stations along the line, and cross-border carriages are flexibly set according to the passenger flow. There are also language translation devices equipped on the train, providingChinese, Lao and English travel service information and broadcasting services.

According to previous reports by TapTechNews, the international passenger train of the China-Laos Railway started operating on April 13, 2023, using the power-concentrated Fuxing"/"Lancang" EMU to operate, with a maximum operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour, a marshalling of 9 cars, including 1 power car, 1 first-class car and 1 dining car, and 6 second-class cars, with a total capacity of 720 people. Each group of seats is equipped with standard power sockets in Chinese and Lao standards.
