According to TapTechNews on June 15, the market research organization IDC released a report on June 14, indicating that the global large-size display panel shipments significantly decreased in April 2024. The TV panel decreased by 6.9% month-on-month, the monitor panel decreased by 3.6% month-on-month, the notebook panel decreased by 14.6% month-on-month, and the tablet panel decreased by 9.8% month-on-month.

Chen Jianzhu, a senior research analyst of IDC's global professional foundry and display industry research team, said:

Although the shipment volume showed a recession trend month-on-month in April 2024, since February 2024, the price of display panels has shown a spiral upward trend, prompting display panel purchasers to generally adopt a pull-in strategy in the first half of 2024, greatly stimulating the purchase demand of display panels in the first half of 2024, and also driving the average utilization rate (percentage of actual operating time of equipment) of the large-size display panel industry in the second quarter of 2024 to reach the highest point in the past nine quarters.

Obtaining the largest number of panels at the initial stage of price increase can achieve the goal of the lowest purchase cost, resulting in a slightly top-heavy shipment proportion of TV panels and monitor display panels in the first and second halves of the year.

Therefore, in the third quarter of 2024, each panel factory will lower the utilization rate to balance the price of display panels in order to achieve the ultimate goal of profitability in 2024.
