Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory Updates on Its 5th Anniversary of Lingang New Area

TapTechNews August 21st news, yesterday (the 20th) marked the fifth anniversary of the Lingang New Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. At the same time of celebration, Tao Lin, the global vice president of Tesla, announced the latest progress of Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory.

According to her introduction, the first energy storage super factory outside the US mainland (Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory) of Tesla is also under intense construction, with the progress reaching about 45%.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory officially started construction on May 23 this year and is expected to go into production in the first quarter of 2025. After commissioning, the production of the super-large electrochemical commercial energy storage system Megapack will reach 10,000 units, and the energy storage scale will be nearly 40 gigawatt-hours.

The Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory is located in the Lingang New Area of Shanghai, covering an area of approximately 200,000 square meters. The factory is close to Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory. The Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory is another large-scale investment project in China after the Shanghai Super Factory in the ten years since Tesla entered China.
