NIO and FAW Hongqi Reach Charging Interoperability Cooperation

On May 21st, Li Bin, the founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, announced on social media that China FAW and NIO have officially reached a comprehensive strategic cooperation in charging and battery swapping. The number of automakers that have joined the NIO battery swap alliance has reached 8. In addition to NIO, the other seven are China FAW, GAC Group, Changan Automobile, Geely Holding, Chery Automobile, Jiangqi Group, Lotus.

According to the official introduction, the automakers that join the battery swap alliance will jointly promote the establishment of a unified battery standard system, cooperate in researching and developing battery swap passenger cars and compatible battery swap service stations that fit both battery swap systems, promote the listing of battery swap models equipped with a unified standardized battery pack jointly determined by both parties, and implement a station-side solution that can provide battery swap services for models of both parties. At the same time, it will also promote the interconnection and interoperability among the battery swap operation networks and operators, promote the establishment of a unified battery swap operation management system, and build a larger-scale, standardized, and unified energy infrastructure network to achieve large-scale advantages.
