Geely Holding Group Reports April Car Sales of 247,300 Units 29% Increase Year-Over-Year, 40% New Energy Vehicle Penetration

On May 11th, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group announced that their total car sales in April reached 247,300 units, marking a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. Sales of new energy vehicles reached 99,200 units during this period, a year-over-year increase of 52%, with a new energy penetration rate of 40%. From January to April, the cumulative sales amounted to 986,000 units, up 28% year-over-year.

In detail, Geely Auto Group's April sales accounted for 153,267 units, about a 39% year-over-year increase and a 2% month-over-month growth; new energy sales for April were 51,428 units, up 75% year-over-year and 15% month-over-month. The company also reported an increase in overseas exports to 38,151 units, a 75% year-over-year rise, and a 5% increase from March. Their cumulative sales for 2024 have now hit 628,987 units.

For 2024, Geely Auto Group has set a sales target of 1.9 million units, marking a 13% increase over 2023, with new energy vehicle sales expected to rise by over 66% compared to the 2023 totals.

An analysis of individual brands shows that Geely brand vehicles were 118,451 units in April, up 35% from last year. The Lynk & Co brand sold 18,727 units, up 34%, and the premium Zeekr brand delivered 16,089 units, almost doubling its figures with a 99% increase.

Volvo Cars (part of Geely Group) reported a global sales volume of 65,838 cars in April, up 27% year-over-year; the sales of new energy models from January to April reached 106,518 units, a 21% increase from last year.

Proton, another Geely-owned brand, recorded April sales of 11,025 units, a 17.1% increase compared to last year.
