Microsoft said that this change will not affect any commercial users who continue to use the classic version of Outlook for Windows application, but when the new version of Outlook for Windows application reaches the GA (generally available) state, users can obtain full support from Microsoft, including the use of auxiliary support.

In addition, all users of the old version of Outlook for Windows will also see the classic version label added to the application name on August 1st (version 2407).

The new version of Outlook is still an optional service. Please note that this update will not change any settings of your organization, nor will it automatically switch users from the classic version of Outlook for Windows to the new version, and will not introduce any disruptive changes.

Before starting any Microsoft-driven migration steps in a managed environment, Microsoft will notify 12 months in advance.

TapTechNews reminds that the classic version of the Outlook application can still be used for a long time, as Microsoft's support for this application is expected to last at least until 2029. In addition, Microsoft also plans to gradually phase out the Outlook application on other platforms later this year.
