Red Bull RB17 Hypercar Debuts at Goodwood Festival of Speed

TapTechNews July 12th news, the Red Bull RB17 hypercar made its global debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed today and became the focus of attention. This hypercar costs more than 5 million pounds (TapTechNews note: currently about 46.878 million yuan). It is limited to 50 units and all have been sold out.

Red Bull will produce these 50 cars by itself within two years. Except for the engine from Cosworth, Red Bull will fully use the same suppliers as F1 racing.

Red Bull also provides a unique driver training program and custom vehicle service according to the individual needs of the owner. Each RB17 can be fully customized according to the customer's preferences, including exterior paint, interior materials and many other details, all of which can be chosen by the customer independently.

The RB17 was designed by legendary designer Adrian Newey in conjunction with more than 120 engineers from Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT), drawing on 20 years of Formula 1 racing innovation technology from the Red Bull team, helping the Red Bull team win six team championship trophies.

According to the introduction, the RB17 adopts a two-seater carbon fiber monocoque chassis, equipped with a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V10 engine with an electric motor assist system, and the maximum speed can reach 15,000 rpm.

In detail, the RB17 uses a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine provided by Cosworth and combines with an electric motor to form a hybrid system. The engine has a maximum power of 1000 horsepower and the electric motor provides an additional 200 horsepower.

It uses a 6-speed sequential carbon fiber gearbox, the vehicle weighs less than 900 kg, has a rear-wheel drive system with a hydraulically assisted active limited-slip differential, can bring lap time performance comparable to that of an F1 car, and the maximum speed exceeds 350 km/h, and also has a handling experience that meets daily use.

The exterior design of the Red Bull RB17 fully considers aerodynamics and adopts a large number of innovative aerodynamic elements, such as a single carbon fiber cockpit, wheel wake management system and front and rear large-size wing deflectors.

It also uses 18-inch carbon fiber wheels and is equipped with Michelin racing slick tires specifically developed for this car, and customers can also choose 20-inch wheels and be equipped with high-performance tread tires.

These designs make the vehicle generate 1700 kilograms of downforce under unrestricted conditions, while its own vehicle weight is only 805 kilograms.

The Red Bull RB17 also has custom seats , adjustable pedals and built-in storage space. Each RB17 enjoys a 2-year or 4000-kilometer warranty, and the manufacturer claims that its durability is sufficient to handle a 24-hour race without additional services.

This model is not bound by the existing race rules, so it does not have the qualification to participate in the existing races, but Red Bull will provide exclusive track day experiences for the owners.
