Due to the network failure, many affected users' iPhones show SOS in the status bar. TapTechNews noted that according to a support document of Apple, the iPhone will display SOS when not connected to the network, but in the United States, Australia and Canada, emergency calls should still be able to be made.

Verizon stated in a statement that the company is aware of the problem affecting some customer services and is working hard to identify the problem and implement repair measures.

For users with iPhone 14 or newer models, they can use Apple's Emergency SOS via Satellite feature to send text messages to emergency service agencies in the supported areas in the United States where there is a lack of cellular network and Wi-Fi coverage.
