Apple's John Ternus Talks About the 2024 iPad Pro Design with Mrwhosetheboss

TapTechNews reported on May 14th that Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, recently had a conversation with blogger Mrwhosetheboss to discuss the 2024 iPad Pro.

John Ternus mentioned that although the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro is the 'thinnest Apple product ever (5.1mm)', the company has taken measures to ensure that the new tablet is not easily bent.

It was revealed that Apple's developers used a single metal plate covering the mainboard as a heat sink, and the metal plate can also serve as the 'central rib' that runs through the tablet, greatly enhancing the product's rigidity.

Apple's consistent pursuit of thinness has actually affected the durability of the devices. Previously, the iPad Pro (especially the 12.9-inch model) had bending issues, with many users of the naked device finding their devices 'bent' after some use. It is currently unclear whether the design applied by Apple on the 2024 iPad Pro can improve the device's resistance to bending, but time will tell.
