BYD's Destroyer 05 Officially Launched in Brazil

TapTechNews June 22nd news, TapTechNews learned from BYD official that BYD's compact sedan, Destroyer 05, officially launched in Brazil under the name of BYDKING on June 18. The car's launch ceremony was held at Allianz Parque in São Paulo stadium, attended by Li Tie, general manager of BYD's Brazilian branch, and Alexandre Baldy, special adviser of BYD's Brazilian branch, and other senior executives.

The car has a comprehensive range of over 1200 miles (about 1931 kilometers) with full fuel and electricity, enabling long-distance driving from São Paulo to Brasília (about 1008 kilometers). It offers two models, GL and GS, starting from 175,800 Brazilian reals (about 47,090 US dollars). The official said that BYD has become one of the top ten local automakers in April this year.

In July 2023, BYD announced the construction of a large production base complex consisting of three factories in Camaçari, Bahia state, Brazil, with a total investment of 3 billion Brazilian reals (about 400.9 million US dollars). According to the official introduction, the factory will officially start production of the Song PLUS and Dolphin models in the middle of 2024.

There were media reports in March this year that BYD has increased the investment in the Brazilian electric vehicle factory to 5.5 billion Brazilian reals (about 735 million US dollars). The first phase of this complex is expected to have an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year, and the initially produced models include BYD Dolphin, Song PLUS, Yuan PLUS and Dolphin Mini.
