Suzuki to Stop Selling Fuel Models in UK, Shift to Electrification

As of today, Suzuki will successively stop selling four models in the UK market, namely SwiftSport, JimnyLCV, Ignis and Swace, and it is expected to complete the clearance of inventory by the earliest in early 2025. This move is aimed at helping Suzuki's dealer network smoothly transition to the electrified era and meet the more stringent environmental regulations to be implemented.

TapTechNews noticed that with the withdrawal of fuel models, Suzuki will turn to offer a product line mainly of hybrid models in the UK market, including models such as Swift, Vitara, S-Cross and AcrossPHEV. At the same time, Suzuki plans to launch its first mass-produced electric vehicle in the second half of 2025 and successively launch more electric vehicles in the next few years.

The person in charge of Suzuki UK branch, Dale Wyatt, said, “Stopping selling some fuel models will make room for electric vehicles, enabling Suzuki to maintain competitiveness in a market environment where the proportion of hybrid and electric vehicle sales is increasingly important. We will gradually exit the age of fuel vehicles and focus on models such as SUVs and the new Swift, and start to fully march into the electrified market from the second half of 2025.”

Suzuki's previously released eVX concept car foreshadows the general design of its first electric vehicle. The official did not disclose too many details, but stated that this crossover electric vehicle will inherit Suzuki's strong four-wheel drive gene and bring users a pure Suzuki SUV driving experience. The eVX concept car is equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack, and the driving range can reach 550 kilometers (MIDC standard).
