Apple's iOS18 New AI Features and Upgrades

According to the TapTechNews on May 31st, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman released a batch of new revelations about Apple's iOS18 today. He said that Apple believes that a series of new AI functions that will soon land on iPhone mobile phones will encourage users to upgrade their devices. Many on-device AI functions require iPhone15Pro or above models to operate, and products such as iPad/Mac require at least the M1 chip.

Gurman quoted a source familiar with the matter in his article and said that Apple is planning to completely transform its Siri voice assistant with more advanced AI, which will enable users to control the functions of individual apps by voice. It is known that the new version of the system will for the first time allow Siri to control all functions within an app, and this change requires the transformation of Siri's underlying software using a large language model.

This upgrade will be part of Apple's broader AI strategy, and specific information still remains to be announced on June 10th. It is learned that basic AI tasks will be handled by the device itself, while more advanced AI functions will be left to cloud computing.

Siri will be the focus of this year's WWDC conference. It can complete more precise functions, including opening a specified document, moving a note to another folder, sending or deleting emails, and even asking the device to provide a summary of an article. Nowadays, Siri's functions are mainly limited to instructions such as opening music playlists, finding information, or controlling smart home devices, etc.

According to TapTechNews' previous reports, Gurman once summarized many AI functions that will emerge in iOS18, including voice memo transcription, improved photo functions (deleting specific objects), etc., and will also improve the Spotlight search function to enable faster and more reliable searches.
