Ideal Merges Retail and Delivery Functions; Sales Soar

TapTechNews June 3rd, according to EveryoneAuto news, starting from early April, Ideal has adjusted the organizational structure of multiple departments, including the brand department, product department, business department, strategy department, and supply department, involving more than 500 people. At the same time, Ideal will merge the functions of the retail and delivery headquarters into sales.

Selling and delivery being separated was introduced after Tesla entered the Chinese market. Tesla adopts a direct sales model to sell cars. Customers experience and place orders in the experience store and then pick up the cars at the delivery center. New forces such as NIO and Zeekr have also adopted this system.

Retail is mainly responsible for pre-sales. After the customer places an order, the delivery department is responsible for docking to help the customer complete the car pickup. The performance indicators of Ideal's retail team and delivery team are different. The retail takes how many cars are sold as the KPI, while the delivery takes the delivery rate as the measurement indicator.

Reports say that to boost performance, the delivery end hopes that customers will pick up the cars as soon as possible, but some customers may delay picking up the cars due to various reasons. Since not picking up the cars in time will affect the delivery rate (calculated based on the number of monthly sales orders), the delivery department may persuade customers to cancel the orders first and order again next month, affecting the performance of the retail department. After the merger of the retail and delivery teams, the goals tend to be the same, which is more conducive to the overall sales growth.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, in May 2024, Ideal Motors delivered 35,020 new cars, an increase of 23.8% year-on-year. As of May 31, 2024, Ideal Motors has cumulatively delivered 774,571 cars.
