Middle East Smartphone Shipments Skyrocket in Q1 2024

TapTechNews June 17th news, according to the Canalys report, the smartphone shipments in the Middle East (excluding Turkey) in the first quarter of 2024 reached 12.2 million units, a year-on-year increase of 39%. Among them, Honor, Transsion, and Xiaomi showed strong growth momentum with year-on-year growth rates of 209%, 194%, and 132% respectively.

1. Samsung: 3.1 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year decrease of 17%, market share of 25%.

2. Transsion: 2.7 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 194%, market share of 22%.

3. Xiaomi: 2.3 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 132%, market share of 19%.

4. Apple: 1.2 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year decrease of 14%, market share of 9%.

5. Honor: 800,000 units shipped in the first quarter of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 209%, market share of 7%.

The smartphone shipments in the Middle East in the first quarter of 2024 were 12.2 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 3.4 million units, an increase of 39%.

Analyst Manish Pravinkumar said: In the first quarter of 2024, the decline in the sales of Samsung's low-end and mid-range A series models led to a decline in the overall shipments of the brand, but its Galaxy S24 series for the high-end market, especially the Galaxy S24 Ultra, became the sales main force with a 66% share.

Apple also faced the same situation in this region, and the sales ratio of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max was higher. Therefore, the average selling prices of Samsung and Apple in this region were significantly improved.

The report also mentioned that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 series achieved the third-place sales result in the Middle East. Transsion began to expand rapidly in the Middle East with the Infinix series, and Honor launched products in multiple price segments mainly targeting the Saudi Arabian market, and its shipments ranked fifth. Meanwhile, Motorola is trying to enter the Middle East market by contacting retailers in Kuwait.
