Apple to Label AI-Generated Images in iOS, Announces ImagePlayground at WWDC2024

TapTechNews June 15th, in the subsequent TheTalkShowLive interview of Apple's WWDC2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, Craig Federighi, Apple's vice president of software engineering, briefly mentioned that the metadata of the pictures generated by iOS will be labeled 'AI-generated'.

Tech media 9to5Mac mined the iOS18 Beta1 update code and mentioned the 'forensics' function used to mark and identify artificial intelligence images in the VisualGeneration framework.

TapTechNews learned from the report that the Apple ImagePlayground application only generates cartoonish images and does not generate realistic photos, which is also a good way to prevent people from spreading misinformation using this tool.

As part of Apple Intelligence, Apple announced the 'ImagePlayground' function at WWDC2024. Users can use this function to instantly generate concept images such as clothing, accessories, locations, etc.

Users can enter a description and choose from animations, illustrations, or sketches, and 'ImagePlayground' will create images according to the user's preferences. The preview image will be created on the device, and the generated images can be accessed in Messages, Notes, Freeform, and even the dedicated 'ImagePlayground' application.
