Apple's Four iPhone 16 Models Expected to Use Same Chip, But Differences May Exist

TapTechNews July 3rd news, @NicolásAlvarez found that Apple's backend indication shows that all four iPhone 16 models that Apple is preparing to release in September this year will use the same A-series chip.

Apple's backend code mentioned new models that have nothing to do with existing iPhones, including four iPhone 16 series models and an iPhone SE new machine:

iPhone 17,1

iPhone 17,2

iPhone 17,3

iPhone 17,4

iPhone 17,5

These five identifiers all start with the same number, indicating that Apple classifies them under the same platform. For reference, the type identifiers used by the iPhone 15 series are different from those of the iPhone 15Pro series:

iPhone 14Pro - iPhone 15,2

iPhone 14ProMax - iPhone 15,3

iPhone 15 - iPhone 15,4

iPhone 15Plus - iPhone 15,5

iPhone 15Pro - iPhone 16,1

iPhone 15ProMax - iPhone 16,2

According to Apple's usual logic, Apple iPhone's type identifiers are usually associated with the chip. For example, all devices equipped with the A16 chip adopt identifiers starting with 15, while devices equipped with the A15 chip all start with 14, and the same is true for the A14 and A13 platforms.

MacRumors pointed out that this means all four iPhone 16 series models will be equipped with the same chip this year, which is also consistent with previous rumors and leaks.

TapTechNews here needs to emphasize that even if all four models of the Apple iPhone 16 series use the A18 chip, it doesn't mean the standard version and the Pro version are completely the same. For example, differences can be made in the number of CPU/GPU cores or NPU performance, or they can be directly named A18 and A18Pro for distinction.
