TapTechNews June 13th news, after the WWDC24 keynote ended, Apple CEO Tim Cook was interviewed by YouTube bloggers iJustine, SuperSaf and MKBHD, discussing topics such as iOS 18 and AppleIntelligence. Cook also talked about Apple's cooperation with OpenAI and his views on the release of some of Apple's iconic products (even including the Magic Mouse).
TapTechNews noticed that when talking about the integration of ChatGPT into iOS 18 and the cooperation with OpenAI, Cook said, For tasks that require the world knowledge reserve, that is, tasks beyond the scope of personal experience, you may be more willing to use some of the large language models on the market. We chose OpenAI and ChatGPT because we think they are the best, but we need to obtain user consent every time we use it.
When asked if the continuous development of AppleIntelligence would make people use the iPhone less, Cook believes this is a big possibility: I think this is a possibility and a big one. We never thought about making people spend all their time on the device. Our business model does not rely on the length of time users spend to succeed. We hope to empower users to be able to accomplish things that they couldn't do before. As AppleIntelligence becomes more and more intelligent, many things that used to take a lot of time can now be done faster. I think this is a huge opportunity.
MKBHD also asked what Cook's legacy (historical influence) as Apple CEO would be. Cook replied, I never think about these. I think the legacy is defined by others when they look at you, not by yourself. I usually always look forward and not look in the rearview mirror. This is also a consistent feature of Apple. We always focus on the future. You don't see a museum here. I think the same way personally. At some point, there will definitely be another CEO taking over, and my life's goal is to help them succeed.
Finally, the interview also talked about the Magic Mouse. Cook said, People don't talk about the Magic Mouse as often as they talk about the MacBook Air, the iPad or other products, but good ergonomic design is the key.
