Ford's Aggressive Move in the Electric Vehicle Market

TapTechNews June 13th news, comprehensively reported by technology media such as electrek and TechCrunch yesterday. Currently, the competition in the economy electric vehicle sector is heating up. Ford is hiring some of the best electric vehicle engineers to assist in the competition. In the past few months, Ford has hired talents from technology giants or 'new automotive forces' like Tesla, Apple, Rivian, and Lucid to help accelerate the pace of developing economy electric vehicles.

Ford CEO Jim Farley disclosed in February this year that the company had bet on developing an economical and affordable electric vehicle platform as early as two years ago, which is a'startup company independent from the main business'. Farley even stated that although it is a small team, it has 'the best in the world' electric vehicle engineers.

The team includes engineer Alan Clarke, who had participated in the research and development of Tesla Model Y. A few months ago, its number was less than 100. According to the latest data from TechCrunch, the team has rapidly grown to about 300 people. In the past year, 50 employees came from Rivian and more than 20 from Tesla. In addition, the team also introduced 10 and several employees from Lucid and Apple's cancelled electric vehicle project Project Titan, respectively.

Earlier this year, Farley even boasted: 'The eventual competitors will be the low-cost Tesla and the original equipment manufacturers in China.'

According to TapTechNews' previous reports, Farley also disclosed in another interview earlier this month that the new electric vehicle that Ford plans to launch will 'compete with the best products in the industry'. Currently, Ford believes that these electric vehicles come from China.
