TapTechNews on June 14, today, Kuaishou announced that it has reached an authorization cooperation agreement with China Central Television (CCTV) and obtained the on-demand and short-video rights of the 2024 Paris Olympics, officially becoming the rights-holding broadcaster of the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is the second time that Kuaishou has obtained the status of an Olympic rights-holding broadcaster after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

According to the introduction, during the Paris Olympics, Kuaishou will not only provide users with event content, derivative programs, and interactive experiences, but also create a brand-new consumption scenario to provide users with a one-stop shopping experience and local life services, further releasing the consumption power of 700 million users.

In 2023, more than 17 million creators have published sports video-related content on Kuaishou, and the core interest group in sports is nearly 200 million. Monthly users who consume sports content reach 520 million, and there are more than 1,400 live broadcasts of mass sports events.

TapTechNews found that on April 17 this year, China Central Television (CCTV) released a copyright statement regarding the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to the agreement signed between China Central Television (CCTV) and the International Olympic Committee, CCTV has the exclusive all-media rights and sub-licensing rights in the Chinese mainland and Macau region of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

China Central Television (CCTV) will jointly with relevant ministries and regulatory agencies increase the intensity of rights protection, take effective measures according to law, crack down on behaviors that infringe on the media rights of the 2024 Paris Olympics and use the program resources of the 2024 Paris Olympics by China Central Television (CCTV) for unfair competition, and investigate the legal responsibility of the infringing entity according to law.
